Update on 2000 hot summer fire!!! 

The Sonora Station staff planned a prescribed burn on a pasture heavily infested with Juniper (Cedar).  The burn was conducted on August 8, 2000.  Because of the dense Juniper, there was little grass on the ground, but the burn took place at over 100 deg. F.,very low humidity and less than 20 mph wind speed.  Good rains have stimulated forage growth resulting in almost no erosion.  Stop by this site occasionally to see the recovery process!   Burn on!!!

NOTE:  The carrying capacity of this pasture following the burn has increased dramatically.  The pasture is scheduled for another burn to remove the standing dead timber.
