Dr. Charles A. (Butch) Taylor Butch is Regents Fellow and Professor at the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station - Sonora. He has over 20 years experience with using fire to reduce Juniper, prickly pear and other invasive species and improve the habitat for livestock and whitetailed deer. Butch had the foresight to realize that if fire was going to be used as a tool for brush control and habitat improvement, it would have to be put into the hands of the landowners. Butch suggested to landowners near the Station to start the Edwards Plateau Prescribed Burn Association (EPPBA). EPPBA now has over 450 members in 9 chapters. He has also assisted landowners in Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma to start burn associations. Butch is a Board Certified Lead Instructor for the Prescribed Burn Manager program.
Ray Hinnant Ray retired from the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station in College Station in 2003 as a Senior Research Associate. He has provided leadership and technical support for the Academy for Ranch Management (ARM), a series of workshops for new land owners and managers. He has taught 13 prescribed burn workshops and has assisted or directed over 30 burns.
